High Profile Adventure Racing L.L.C. presents the 3rd annual adventure camp in Mount Carroll, Illinois at the scenic and historic YMCA Camp Benson. The camp will give aspiring first timers to experienced adventurers the skills and knowledge needed to participate and excel in adventure races.

The camp will be held from Friday, April 3 to Sunday, April 5, 2009.

The focus of the camp will be on fixed rope skills and navigation. Participants will be given instruction on safety, equipment, knots, rappelling, ascending, and traversing on fixed ropes and on rock climbing techniques.

Instruction is primarily in the field with rappels and ascents of over 100' high and traverses of over 300' long on area cliffs.

Friday night, Saturday morning and evening and Sunday morning seminars will include presentations on topics such as orienteering, day and night land navigation, backcountry survival, adventure race strategies, lessons learned, foot care, and cyclocross!

A highlight of the camp will be a 3 hour sprint adventure race on Sunday featuring an orienteering Rogaine course, cyclocross race, caving and multiple fixed ropes.

The cost of the camp includes two full days of instruction, Friday night seminars, Friday and Saturday night lodging at Camp Benson, a Saturday night meal, a Sunday morning breakfast, insurance, a sprint adventure race, a voucher for $25.00 off the 2009 Thunder Rolls Adventure Race and a certificate of attendance.

Active Endeavors will have all the required rope gear for sale at the camp. The High Profile Adventure Camp staff are all experienced adventure racers, bicycle racers. Each is highly skilled with backgrounds and expertise in the topics and disciplines presented.

The camp is presented by Gerry Voelliger, Director of the Thunder Rolls Adventure Race and Captain of Team Orthopaedic Specialists.
